The journal ARHIVI is a newsletter published continuously since 1978 by the Archival Society of Slovenia and Slovenian archives. It is the central scientific and professional periodical publication in the field of archival science in Slovenia. Until 1999, it was published as a single double issue per year, but since 2000 two separate issues of the journal are being published each year.

The journal publishes scientific and professional articles and discussions from the field of archival science, archival activities and techniques, auxiliary sciences of history, study of primary sources, archival fonds, and structures of institutions, as well as papers concentrating on the broader field of historiography and interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary research. In addition to discussing methods of archival historiography and interdisciplinary work, the journal also publishes articles on archival legislation, archival service, history of archives, conservation, and restoration of archival records, as well as papers on electronic archiving and personal data protection. It follows the development of archival science in Slovenia and abroad and addresses the issue of protection and long-term preservation of new forms of information.

Articles in ARHIVI are divided into thematic sections. The sections Articles and discussions and From archival fonds and collections present the findings of archival, historical and interdisciplinary research in the form of peer-reviewed scientific or professional articles. The section Activities of the Archival Society of Slovenia includes reports on meetings, conferences, and other consultations in the field of archival science and related disciplines. The section Reviews and reports present the latest publications and exhibitions published or held by Slovenian and foreign archives. The second issue of each volume of the journal also provides an overview of archival records that the state and regional archival institutions have acquired and included in their fonds and collections in the previous calendar year. The acquired archival records are presented in the form of summary inventories in the section Acquisitions of archives. In its section Bibliography of archivists, the journal also offers an overview of the most recent papers published by Slovenian archivists.

The publishing of ARHIVI is co-financed by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia.

The journal ARHIVI is published twice a year.
